Welcome to the home of Dragon Dreams and Faerie Wings.  Contained within these pages are the culmination of years of work, love for the unique, and a passion for making art imaginative and thought provoking.

All of my kaleidoscopes are completely handcrafted by me, Kari Makoutz.  They each contain flame-worked glass made by me in my own glass studio as well as ampoules that I have made and filled with colorful glass that move at a different rate in the object chamber. 

The scopes themselves are made with polymer infused with mica powders. My Nocturna Line also includes glow in the dark glass.   I then use a 12-step polishing process to bring out the deep layers of mica shift. 

This creates a look reminiscent of oil on water. This process makes it nearly impossible to capture the beauty of the colors on film. 

I often receive comments from people who buy my scopes about how amazed they are at the depth of color.  No lathes, molds, or machinery is ever used in the construction process.  Therefore, each scope varies and is truly unique, even within the same series.  The small imperfections, and sometimes even mica-captured fingerprints, add to the beauty and give the assurance that you own a piece of art that was handmade by me and not a reproduction or mass produced piece.
